In recent years, the HDMI cable specification has been developing rapidly in the market, with more than 850 authorized enterprises worldwide. An increasing number of consumer electronics and PC manufacturers are licensing HDMI specifications to further enhance the world standard for this specification in hd digital connectivity.

According to a report by market-research firm in-stat, the number of HDMI devices shipped In 2009 is expected to reach about 394 million units, up from 1 billion previously sold. By the end of 2009, 100% digital color TVS will have at least one HDMI input. Then, in 2010, blu-ray players will be 100% installed on HDMI ports in 2012. The application prospect and market of HDMI will be extremely broad.

From 2005 to 2012, it is expected to ship HDMI devices.

HDMI Ethernet channel.

The HDMI specification 1.4 increased data path in the cable, to achieve two-way transfer of a high speed. With the function of the equipment after the link will be available at a speed of 100 MB/SEC Ethernet line to send and receive data, and make the equipment immediately IP based devices.

HDMI Ethernet channels enable HDMI devices to integrate Internet functions without using other Ethernet cables to share their Internet connections with other HDMI devices. This new feature also provides an interconnection architecture for sharing content between HDMI devices.

Audio return channel.

An audio channel has been added to the latest specification to reduce the number of cables needed to process and replay audio. High-definition TV in directly receive audio and video content, this new audio back channels, can let high-definition TV does not need to add other cable, direct use of HDMI cable to transmit audio stream to the A/V receiver.

HDMI3D function

Standard version 1.4 defines the common 3D format and resolution for HDMI devices. This specification standardizes the input/output part of the home 3D system, and the standard resolution reaches the maximum of 1080p.

Supports 4Kx2K resolution.

The latest specification enables HDMI devices to support HD resolution four times the 1080p resolution. The new specification supports 4Kx2K resolution, enabling the HDMI interface to be transmitted in the same standard resolution as many digital cinema USES. Support formats include: 3840x216024Hz/25Hz/30Hz; 4096 x216024hz.

Extended support for color space.

HDMI technology now supports color space designed for digital cameras. The display device with HDMI function can display more accurate realistic colors when connecting to the digital video camera after supporting sYCC601, AdobeRGB and AdobeYCC601.

Micro HDMI connector.

The micro HDMI connector is a 19-foot connector with a very small size, which can support a portable device with a maximum resolution of 1080p. The new connector is 50 percent smaller than the current HDMI mini connector.
